Daniel is highly regarded as a specialist in criminal and fraud law, professional discipline, privacy and regulatory law. He has been quoted extensively in the press and appeared in leading policy and news programmes as a commentator in relation to high-profile cases.

Daniel has spoken nationally and internationally on various legal issues, including regulation of online hate, international money laundering, anonymity for suspects facing allegations of sexual offences and the application of law to challenge terrorist financing.  

In his voluntary capacity, Daniel holds Director and Trustee roles in a not-for-profit legal charity, a charity which has rescued at-risk persons from Afghanistan and a boxing charity for socially deprived youths.

  • Acting for the Deputy Speaker of the House of Commons, The Rt. Hon. Nigel Evans MP, who faced allegations of rape and sexual assault.
  • Representing a large engineering company in an investigation by the Health & Safety Executive, following a catastrophic injury.
  • Acting for Rolf Harris, in his second criminal trial and a subsequent re-trial for allegations of sexual assault
  • Representing a senior MP and former Minister during a police investigation into sexual assault
  • Acting for a former company director accused by Trading Standards, of running a large trading operation, whilst disqualified.
  • Acting for a former headmaster charged with indecent assault of two former pupils thirty years previously.
  • Double attempted murder and firearms trial, arising from a gangland dispute.
  • Acting for a business owner in a corporate manslaughter case brought by the Health & Safety Executive, following the death of a customer.
  • Advising in an international investigation into an online bank and alleged money-laundering activity.
  • Operation Venetic – defending in multi-national investigation into smuggling of class A drugs and money laundering, involving the Enchrochat encrypted telecommunication network.
  • Operation Lithium – defending in an alleged multi-national, scrap metal fraud.
  • R v Ravjani & Others – defending a freight forwarding director in a £2.2 billion missing trader fraud, with loss to the Revenue of £176 million.
  • Representing a freight boss in a police investigation into a multi-million pounds international drug smuggling network
  • Acting for a retired Police Chief Superintendent during an investigation into an alleged cover-up, following a gangland murder
  • Acting for an elite undercover officer in Operation Elter; the police inquiry into the conduct of the undercover policing unit National Public Order Intelligence Unit.
  • Representing a retired Deputy Chief Constable in an investigation into an alleged failure to properly investigate complaints of sexual misconduct by a medical doctor employed by the Police.
  • Acting for a Police Superintendent accused of stealing equipment an intellectual property, whilst deployed abroad.
  • Representing a retired Police Superintendent accused of rape of a colleague over 20 years previously.
  • Advising a Police Superintendent acting as Silver Commander during the armed ‘stand-off’ with Raoul Moat, who was wanted for murder.
  • Advising a mid-sized regional law firm in an investigation into breaches of the Code of Conduct by a partner.
  • Advising an insolvency practitioner in an investigation by the ICAEW and developing systems to avoid disciplinary action
  • Acting pro-bono for a barrister at the end of her life, in an application to the High Court for a suspension imposed by the Bar Tribunal and Adjudication Service, to be lifted so she could die as a full member of the Bar [Hewson v BSB 2021]
  • Advising on the restructure of an accountancy practice to avoid regulatory breaches
  • Defending an online doctors’ and pharmaceutical practice in a GPhC prosecution for trading without being properly registered
  • Advising a large rehabilitation case management business as to the need to register with the Care Quality Commission (“CQC”), pursuant to the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014
  • Advising the mother of an Israeli soldier, kidnapped in 1982, on a Freedom of Information matter, to secure evidence held by the Foreign & Commonwealth Office.
  • Advising a former Labour Party MP in respect of a Parliamentary Standards investigation
  • Advising a multi-national company on various matters concerning public order issues arising from criminal activity it has been targeted with.
  • Acting for a stage, film and television actress in a defamation claim

  • Acting for 9 claimants in a claim against the Labour Party for misuse of private data, breach of confidence and claims under the Equality Act [Taylor & Others v Labour Party].
  • Acting for a major celebrity in respect of claims for damages for alleged historic sexual abuse
  • Acting for a major entertainment professional in respect of claims for damages alleged historic sexual abuse
  • Acting for a student who had been wrongly marked down and was unable to graduate, following improper and biased marking [Greyman-Kennard v University of Leeds 2022]
  • Acting for a retired deputy headmaster from a special educational needs school, facing a claim for damages for alleged abuse of a former pupil, 45 years previously.
